Organizing your garage or storage building by hanging up lawn tools--such as rakes, shovels, leaf blowers, and lawn trimmers--is an effective way to cut down on clutter. You want to reduce clutter to avoid the frustration of looking for items that haven't been uniformly stored. In addition, tools that aren't properly stored present a safety hazard, increasing the risk of someone tripping over them and injuring themselves, or damaging the lawn tool.
Heavy-Duty Utility Hooks
Drill a hole into a ceiling joist, a stud, or the support board between two studs for the hook.
Place the pointed end of the hook into the hole and twist it in until it's securely in the stud or other support beam.
Hang the lawn trimmer by the tool's handle or the handhold.
Spring Clip Method
Locate an exposed stud in your garage or storage building wall. If you don't have exposed studs, use a stud finder to locate one, or knock on the wall with your knuckles. The wall will sound hollow except in the stud area.
Hang the spring or wall utility clip onto the wall stud by hammering nails into the appropriate holes or using screws and a screwdriver.
Place the lawn trimmer onto the clip to store it.
