How to Treat Leaves on Vinca Plant

Overview

Vinca plants are small, brightly colored flowers in shades of yellow, red, orange, light blue and purple. Vincas are very popular landscaping choices because they are inexpensive, have long-lasting bulbs that bloom throughout summer. Vinca plants require very little maintenance, but when leaves become dry or diseased it is necessary to treat them with a home solution. Treating Vinca plant leaves is a simple process that does not require additional specialized skills.

Step 1

Remove any dead or dried leaves from your Vinca plant by a process of hand-pulling. This is necessary as it helps prevent the spread of decay throughout the plant leaves.

Step 2

Dispose of the dead, rotting leaves into a trash bag or compost bin.

Step 3

Fill a spray bottle with a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup insecticide (available at any home and garden center).

Step 4

Gently spray the Vinca plant with the solution to prevent insects from eating your Vinca leaves, causing further decay.

Step 5

Leave solution to dry; do not rinse off. Reapply solution twice in the summer, once in the fall and spring. Application is not necessary during the winter season.
