Hi friends I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida and getting rid of red ants within the yard well number one, let's identify what type of red ants we have because in Florida we have got three different types of red ants. We have got some carpenter ants. We've got Argentine ants. We have got fire ants. All three are red, only one causes major problems to people and pets and that's of course the fire ants but if you have got ants around your home if it is fire ants I recommend a product called Top Choice Fire Ant Killer. It kills your fire ants for one full year. If it is carpenter ants that you have well that's a different story because they may live up inside of your attic of your home or even down in the mulch in your flower beds. If those are the types of red ants that you have you have to find out where the nest is and control the nest. Now if it's up in the attic look for any wet areas or damaged wood. That's where carpenter ants do tend to forage or hide up in the attic. They will forage through the home during the day. Maybe what you might want to do is to go ahead and get a sample of the red ant that you find, go to your county extension service, have it properly identified then you can control all of these. Another good way to do it is to hire a professional pest control applicator to come out to your home and actually find out what they are and treat the whole perimeter of the yard and maybe your house as well and that will keep you free of red ants for a full year. I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest free day.
