How to Fill an Intex Above Ground Pool

By Daniella Lauren ; Updated September 21, 2017

The pool manufacturer Intex offers a variety of above ground swimming pools for residential use. From easy-set rubber/vinyl pools to hard-set above ground models, Intex offers a model to accommodate just about any family size or location in a yard. After installing the pool, you will need to fill the pool with water. Most owners can use a garden hose connected to a faucet around their home and most pools will take several hours to fill, with larger pools taking from one to one and a half days.

Place a garden hose in the pool. Allow it to coil on the bottom of the pool so it does not come out of the pool after you turn on the water.

Connect the female end of the garden hose to an outside faucet. Turn on the water.

Check the pool every few hours to ensure it is filling properly. Look for leaks outside the pool and tears in the vinyl liner.

Turn off the water when the level inside the pool reaches the designated fill line. This line is approximately at 90 percent fill capacity of the pool.

Things You Will Need

  • Garden hose

  • You will need to periodically add water to the pool as water will evaporate from the pool. Excessive splashing will also require additional water added to the pool.
