Tip

Watch the weather forecast and make sure you apply the Roundup at a time when rain is not expected for at least six hours.

Warning

Do not allow children or pets to go anywhere near the treated stump until the Roundup has completely dried.

After you chop down the main part of the tree, you will want to treat the remaining stump to kill it. Roundup makes a product called Roundup Tree Stump and Root Killer that is highly effective at killing your unwanted stumps. It will also prevent vegetation from growing on your stump. As its active ingredient is glyphosate, all necessary safety precautions must be taken during its use.

Put on a pair of waterproof gloves and boots before working with the Roundup Tree Stump and Root Killer. You may also want to wear a pair of goggles and a mask.

Cut your tree stump as close to the ground as you can. Roundup recommends doing this between the months of November and March.

Mix 12 oz. of Roundup Tree Stump and Root Killer with 1 gallon of water if your tree stump is deciduous. If the tree stump is coniferous, you will want to use 24 oz. of Roundup per 1 gallon of water.

Dip a paintbrush in the Roundup mixture and paint over the cut stump. Repeat until you have completely covered the top of the stump and bark on the sides. You want the stump to be completely saturated with the Roundup.

Clean your paintbrush immediately after using it in the Roundup.
