Hi! My name is Allen Watts from Anything Grows, a store for gardeners in Stratford, Ontario. On behalf of, I am happy to speak to you about tips for new gardeners and looking at garden design to consider using native species or natural plant material. My reason for suggesting this is for new gardeners and looking at a new garden design is because they offer some benefits. One of the benefits from a time respective, is how much time do you have to maintain your garden and how much energy you have to maintain your garden. It is a consideration because different styles of planting designs, different beds, different perennials require more work. By using native species tend to require less work. They have natural beauty in sort of more seasons that they don't need as much tending, heading sort of maintenance in that respect and also with respect to watering because they are native to your environment they are used to the conditions that exist in growing naturally aren't supplemented with additional need fro watering. So from that prospective that is a good choice, a good alternative choice and it is a good environmental choice as well. Also the diversity of plant material now has become much more exciting really because there is so much more available. There are so many more native species that they are able to cultivate and you will see a lot more plant material available on the market now and that makes the opportunity for designing more exciting and much more flexible to be able to offer many many more choices. Whether is is color or texture or seasonal, you will have a lot more native specie choices to choose from.
