Gordon Hayward, an acclaimed garden designer and lecturer, is the author of four previous books, including Your House, Your Garden and Stone in the Garden. His wife, Mary Hayward, grew up gardening in the Cotswolds in England. They live and garden in Westminster, Vermont.
