Carne Mechada Recipe

Step 1

Simmer meat with wine, garlic, onions, bay, salt/pepper about 3 hours. Shred meat, set aside. Saute onion and green pepper in oil. Add ingredients for sauce and simmer 30 minutes more.

Step 2

Simmer shredded meat with above sauce, add 1/2 t thyme, 1/4 t pepper, 3 bay leaves, 1 t oregano, 1 t Worcestershire, 1/2 t cumin, salt to taste.

Good Venezuelan recipe.

  • 3lb Sirloin
  • 4tb Dry Red Wine
  • 1ea Clove garlic, crushed
  • 2ea Onions, sliced
  • 3ea Bay leaves
  • 1 Salt/pepper
Sauce:
  • 2ea Green peppers, chopped
  • 1tb Olive oil
  • 1ea Pimentos, small can
  • 2ea Onions, chopped
  • 2ea Cans tomatoes, 12 oz.
  • 1tb Worcestershire
