Scones Recipe


The scone is a basic component of the cream tea or Devonshire tea. A scone is a bread thicker than a bannock. It is made of wheat, barley or oatmeal, usually with baking powder as a leavening agent

Step 1

Blend flour, baking powder and sugar together. Chop in butter. Add raisins. Mix one egg with enough milk to make 3/4 cup. Blend with flour mixture. Roll on a slightly floured surface, 1/2 inch thick, cut into rounds, scored in the middle. Bake at 425 for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • 1 3/4 c. milk
