Overview

When it comes to weight, most of the focus is on how to lose it. You may be surprised to learn that there are people who actually want to find the best foods to gain weight and muscle. Some have metabolisms that make it hard for them to gain body mass to have the body they've always wanted. As with losing weight, following a special diet of certain foods and exercises can help you gain weight and muscle in no time.

Eat Whole Foods

Some automatically turn to protein supplements to gain weight and muscle; don't rely heavily on them. Rely primarily on a diet of whole foods, like meat, eggs vegetables and complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. Use supplements periodically to support your diet.

Choose Lean Protein

Protein is a important part of building muscle. Lean meats are the best sources of protein. Eat chicken, turkey, lean cuts of pork and lean red meat to ensure that you gain muscle instead of fat. Fish is also ideal and will also supply important omega-3 fatty acids. Eggs, nuts, seeds and milk are also good sources.

Eat Complex Carbs

Carbohydrates are present in many different foods. You'll find them in many different types of vegetables and fruits which also supply much-needed vitamins and minerals. Cereals and grains are also important sources. Eat a variety of carbs in your diet, but stay away from processed carbohydrates like white rice, flour and bread. Choose whole grain foods instead like brown rice, whole wheat breads and pastas.
