How to Cook Bacon and Onion Frittata for Vegans

Making a bacon and onion frittata for vegans requires the use of faux bacon bits and tofu. These ingredients offer essentially the same taste as the original recipe. You can find faux bacon online and in many groceries.

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the onion and the white part of the green onions and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the garlic and stir for 30 seconds. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the potatoes, 1 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until the potatoes are brown and tender.

Step 4

Blend the tofu, soy sauce, yeast and remaining salt and pepper in a food processor until the mix is thick and creamy.

Step 5

Add the faux bacon, the green part of green onions and the cooked potatoes to the tofu mix. Pour the mix into a large tart pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the center is firm.

Step 6

Remove and let cool. Invert the frittata onto a plate and serve.
