What Is a Good Distance to Plant a Tree From Your House?

Place trees so that full-grown tree roots will not grow against the foundation and branches will not rub against the roof. Plant small trees at least 15 feet away and larger trees 20 to 30 feet away from buildings; more if wildfires or windstorms are common in your area.
