Depth of Pot for Tomato Plants

Tomato plants need containers that are at least 18 to 24 inches deep for adequate root growth, according to VIVA Gardens. Almost any container will work, but the pot must have good drainage. Because containers dry out quickly, you will need to water more often than if your tomato plant were in the ground.
