I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. Let's talk a little bit about how to get rid of grub worms. The Big Ugly. What they call white grubs. That are in like a C shape in your lawn. They are actually the larva stage of the June bugs that we have later on in the year. Grub worms eat the roots off the grass. Therefore of course killing the grass. You should be able to take the grass and just roll it up if you have grub damage, because they cut the roots completely off. The best way to prevent this from happening is number one. Be sure that you have a very fertile soil. Work to have fertile ground and fertile plants. That will discourage them very much right there. The second thing is use beneficial nematodes. One of the things that nematodes does well is to take care of the grubs. To eliminate them from causing your lawn a problem. Nematodes are sprayed out. They are good for lots of insects. This should be done about three times a year or depending on where you are, how long your growing season is might determine maybe just twice or so forth. But beneficial nematodes are an ideal way of getting out in front and keeping those grub worms away and works together really well with a fertile soil. With the nematodes out be sure, and this would be in keeping with a fertile soil. To do a regular watering. To help keep the nematodes alive and active. Again, beneficial nematodes and fertile soil. Two great, healthy, non-abrasive ways of controlling grub worms.
