Hydroponics is the process of growing flowers or plants directly in water, and in this process the water should be running with all of the required vitamins and minerals. Grow hydroponic tomatoes or strawberries with help from a sustainable gardener in this free video on hydroponic gardening and plant care.
Hi this is Yolanda Vaneen and in this segment I am going to talk about plants grown using hydroponics. Now hydroponics is very simple. It is just growing flowers or plants right into water. So the roots are actually grown in water, the water is running and it has all the vitamins and the nutrients and all of the minerals that is needed to grow the plants right in the water and so there are so many different types of plants that are grown hydroponically and probably the most popular right now are plants like tomatoes and different types of vegetables are grown hydroponically. One of the most popular plants that is grown hydroponically are tomatoes so they're grown right into tubes or grown right into the water and then the roots will just develop and then tulips are really grown hydroponically to a great extent now in Holland where they have found that by just growing them right in the trays with water they don't need any type of soil so besides tomatoes and other types of vegetables, strawberries are grown hydroponically as well and it works really well because strawberries will have a big root and they're grown from tubes too, they will stick the root right into the tube and let them grow and then they will keep blooming which will create lots of different types of strawberries. I am sure that in the future many more plants will be grown hydroponically and we'll find that even in our home gardens we will learn how to grow them and be very successful.
