Clean a Purex-Triton Pool Filter

The Purex Triton pool filter was a sand pool filter manufactured by the Pentair pool filter company. Sand filters clean the water in your pool by filtering it through sand. When the sand gets full of dirt then the filter stops working efficiently. This causes a pressure valve to rise so you know it is time to backwash your sand filter in order to clean it. You should backwash your filter every two to three days.

Stop the pump on you filter and turn the valve to "Backwash."

Start the pool's pump. Allow the pump to run the backwash for three to five minutes.

Turn off the pump and set the valve to "Rinse."

Turn the pump back on and let it run for about 30 seconds.

Turn off the pump and set the valve to "Filter." Open the air bleeder on the Purex Triton and turn the pump back on.
