Flowers That Bloom Daily

Some gardeners have a fondness for spring bulb flowers such as tulips or daffodils, which feature one flower that blooms for only a week or so. Other gardeners love to cultivate rare flowers; some of which bloom for just a single day day. Most gardeners, however, want a garden that is in full bloom throughout the growing season. To ensure this long-lasting display of color and beauty, choose flowers that bloom daily, all summer long.

This plant has graceful, lacy leaves and tiny yellow flowers that bloom every day, all summer long. Corydalis lutea thrives in shady areas with moist (but not soggy) soil, making it the perfect choice to liven up any dark area of your landscape.

Geraniums come in a wide range of colors, but most of them are some shade of red or pink. They vary widely in size and leaf patterns as well. Some even have scents. Most importantly, geraniums are long-long lasting bloomers. The most popular type of geranium, appropriately called the "common geranium," will bloom continuously from the spring well into the fall as long as wilted blooms are removed and the plant is not exposed to a hard frost.

Daylilies (Hemerocallis) with the word "returns" in their names (such as "Happy Returns" and "Rosy Returns") are daylilies that will bloom day after day. Other varieties are known for daily blooming as well, including "Pardon Me" and the popular "Stella D'Oro". Daylilies are extremely hardy flowers, known for their ability to grow and thrive in almost any conditions. To keep them re-blooming, remove wilted flowers and stalks as soon as they die back.

Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia) features bright yellow flowers with black centers. Similar in appearance to daises, these cheerful flowers bloom all summer long with only minimal care, as long as they are exposed to at least six hours of sunlight per day. They will grow even in dry conditions and easily re-seed themselves, meaning you will have even more flowers next spring.
