Perennial Plants That Bloom All Year

If you want perennials for your planter, window box, garden plot, or container that will give you bloom after bloom the entire year, then you’ll need perennial plants that don’t drop their flowers. These specialized plants (year round blooming perennials) can give you year round flowers without the need to replant every year.

Peace Lily

Spathiphyllum clevelandii, the peace lily, is a perennial that can get 2 to 6 feet tall and 1 to 3 feet wide in a round shape. It has a medium growth rate. Grow a peace lily in partial sun/shade or shade in well drained soils. Flowers are showy and white, year round. Leaves are evergreen and coarse textured.

Lantana

Lantana camara, the lantana, is a perennial that can get 1 to 4 feet tall and 3 to 6 feet wide. It has a round shape and a fast growth rate. It will attract butterflies. Grow a lantana in full sun in well drained soil. Flowers are showy and year round, in colors of red, yellow, pink, purple, white, or orange. Leaves are evergreen and medium textured.

African Iris

Dietes vegeta, the African iris, is a perennial that can get 2 to 4 feet tall and 1 to 3 feet wide. It has an upright shape and slow growth speed. Grow an African iris in full sun or part sun/shade in well drained soil. Flowers are showy and white, year round. Leaves are evergreen and medium in texture.

Wedelia

Wedelia trilobata, the wedelia, is a perennial that can get up to 1 foot tall with a prostrate shade and fast growth rate. Grow a wedelia in full sun or part sun/shade in well drained soil. It has a high salt tolerance. Flowers are showy and yellow, year round. Leaves are evergreen and medium in texture.

African Daisy

Gazania spp., the African daisy, is a perennial that can get up to 1 foot tall and 1 foot wide. It has a round shape and a medium growth rate. Grow an African daisy in full sun in well drained soil. It has a high salt tolerance. Flowers are showy and red, white, pink, orange, or yellow in color, year round. Leaves are green and medium in texture.
