Don't Throw Away Old Pot Lids — Turn Them Into Stunning DIY Garden Art Instead

Who doesn't have an old pot lid or two that are mysteriously missing their matching counterparts? While these mismatched lids might just seem like junk, they can actually be transformed into gorgeous garden additions. Of course, you can repurpose them into the cutest DIY bird baths, but that's far from the only way they can add to your outdoor space. You can also turn them into stunning wall art to spruce up the side of a shed or upgrade an ordinary chain-link fence.

If you're especially fond of the look of creating multiple pot lid outdoor wall hangings, but don't have that many spare lids, consider visiting your local thrift shop or nearby estate sales. You'll also need to pick up some enamel paint or other product that sticks well to metal, glass, or whatever your pot lid is made of. You don't have to paint your lids if you don't want to, but it's a great way to add extra color. And, of course, don't forget to get some hooks or epoxy for attaching your creations to your fence or wall.

How to create your unique pot lid garden decor masterpiece

Carefully paint your lids with your enamel paint and then let them fully dry. While you wait, decide where in your yard you'll want to display your art. If you're using multiple lids, follow the strategy of laying them out on the ground in the pattern you want, then take a picture so it's easy for you to recreate it on the wall. This method works great for creating gallery walls and should help with your pot lid art, as well.

Once your lids are dry, you're ready to secure them to your wall or fence. You may be able to just use nails or hooks and let the lip of the lids hold the art in place. Alternatively, you could simply use epoxy on the back of the lids to secure them in place. Depending on how your lids' handles are designed, you may even be able to use them as useful holders for tools like garden shears and other gardening essentials.
