Christmas is one of the most beautiful times of year, and many people spend quite a bit of time during this season at their local church. Most churches decorate for the holiday and ask attendees to get involved with the decorating. If you get called upon to help decorate for the Christmas holiday, here are a few tips that will help you make your church look festive and elegant for this special season.
Add live Christmas trees. They will look nice in various places throughout the church, such as the platform, the entry way of the church and other open areas. If you don't want to deal with a live tree, then an artificial one will work, although it won't provide the lovely smell of a real one. You can decorate the trees with lights, ornaments, tinsel and any other decorations you choose.
Use plenty of Christmas lights. Although you'll no doubt put some Christmas lights on the trees you decorate, they can be used in other places around the church as accent points. You can use them to decorate the windows, communion tables if it's permissible, or even the front altar.
Set up candelabras. Candles always provide a lovely ambiance in a church, and they are a wonderful way that you can enhance your Christmas church décor. You can add a few bows to them to make them look even more festive.
Put up wreaths on church doors. Remember, when you decorate a church for Christmas, the front doors of the church are the first things people see, so putting up some wreaths there is a beautiful idea. Of course you can include wreaths on any of the doors in your church as well.
Attach bows to church pews. You can purchase beautiful Christmas bows and attach them to some of the church pews to enhance the Christmas church décor. They can be carefully attached with sticky tack, as long as it won't mar the wood.
Decorate with pine boughs. Pine boughs look great laying on tables that are in the front of the church, the guest book table, and other places throughout the church. You can even interweave them with Christmas lights as well when you decorate a church for Christmas.
Include a nativity. The nativity includes everything that Christmas means to you and it is a beautiful addition when you are decorating a church. Some churches choose a live nativity, but if this is not possible for your church, you can purchase a small or large nativity.
