Cool-season turfgrass, like Kentucky bluegrass and fall fescue, can be seeded August through October in Virginia, according to the Virginia Cooperative Extension. Warm-season turfgrass, like bermudagrass and zoysiagrass, should be planted May through August, recommends the Extension.
