Hi, I'm Rachel Yatuzis and I'm going to show you how to remove water stains from silk. Silk is such a fragile material and it's really hard when you get it stained to get any kind of stains out but there are some things you can do or at least try. First off for water stains you want to get some lukewarm water in a bowl, a bowl big enough to fit your garment in, and add about a third of a cup of a laundry detergent that is safe for delicate fabrics. Let it dissolve really well if it is a powder detergent. Place your silk item in to that bowl of water and laundry detergent and let it soak in there. Push it down in there really good and let it soak for about ten to fifteen minutes. Take it out when you're done, after it soaks obviously and you want to rinse it really well with cold water and lay it on a towel to air dry. If that does not work, I'll use the other dry side of this to show you what to do next. If that doesn't work you want to make a solution with the laundry detergent and the water, add some vinegar to it, and use a damp sponge, not wet but just damp, to blot the area. Let that sit for about ten to fifteen minutes, rinse that with cold water and lay it on a towel. The vinegar should help it evaporate more quickly and if you blot it around the area of the water stain it will be more inconspicuous. I'm Rachel Yatuzis and that is how you remove water stains from silk.
