Hi! I am Drew Finn here for Expert We are going to discuss how to cut down a tree safely today. This video is brought to you by Black Dog Video. You can visit it on Planning how we are going to avoid getting killed by the tree, we need a good escape route. Now the tree wants to fall this direction. We want it to fall here. So, we are going to encourage it by our cuts and by a cable. So, with a felling this way, we need a good escape route perpendicular to that and then we need another escape route that is opposite that also in case it is not falling the way we want. We are going to make sure it is clear brush and that we can actually get away when the tree starts falling. Another thing to be very careful around this is wind. If it’s windy at all, you don’t want to be cutting. Today, there is a very, very slight breeze and fortunately it is right in the direction we want to fell. So, we look down here, we make sure that the branches and stuff are well out of our way so that we have a clear escape route. We also have one down here in case it decides to come in the direction of our escape route. We never want to be planning to go this way. It starts to go this way and try to cut underneath it. That’s just stupid. So, you have got to think what if things go wrong because safety is utmost important. Felling the trees is the most likely time you end up killing yourself. So, you have got to be very careful about that, think ahead, plan things and we never want to fell the tree obviously where it’s going to get hung up on another tree because that starts a whole realm of real safety problems.
