This is Danny back with you from Laughing Dog Farm. Today I'm going to talk to you about, perhaps the most important job in managing a spring hoop house. That's ventilation. If you drive away on some chilly April morning thinking your hoop house is nice; is nice and cold and safe and then the sun comes out at nine, ten o'clock this hoop house will be converted into a solar oven and you will come home to a big pile of soup. Nothing is as disappointing as losing thousands and thousands of plants; your entire spring investment. So, you have to be all the time vigilant about the spikes in temperature, especially in the spring, because we have cold nights that can be as cold as freezing and days that have been in the eighties. So, early in the morning, preemptively before you need the ventilation you always want to ventilate before and close up before the need arises. So, this is my best tool right here for ventilation. This is a little device that converts a crank gear into the ability to raise the entire side of the hoop house.
