Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen, and in this segment, we're going to talk about, what is a pully? Now, a pully, has been around as long as the wheel, and basically any mechanical device, that uses a wheel with a groove, that turns and uses any type of yarn or a material, to pull something from one area to the other, or create another item, is called a pully, and generally, a pully is used, like pull a piano from the street up into a fourth floor apartment building, using a piece of rope, and you pull it up, but pretty much any type of mechanical device, that has a wheel, is considered a pully, so this is my grandfather's spinning wheel. It's over a hundred years old, and it's based on the pully system, and so the wheel turns, and I don't have the string anymore, but the string goes up into, and strings around here, so my grandfather used this pully based machine, this is a spinning wheel, and so when it would take the yarn off of the sheep, and you would actually just spin it, and make it into kind of braids, and it would spin around, using the pulley, and it would have a foot pump, and then that would actually turn it into yarn, and it's a very simple device, and so the pully has been used for as long as the wheel has been used, so any mechanical device that has a groove, and a belt or a rope, is considered a pully, and so it's one of the most ingenuous creations of man, but we depend on pulleys, and there's many different varieties, that have many different uses, but they all have one thing in common. They have a groove, a wheel, and some type of string or belt, and it's as simple as that.
