Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to make homemade mosquito repellent. Now, if you live in an area where there's mosquitoes, which pretty much every where in the world, there are mosquitoes, and especially if you work outside, you know how terrible it is to have mosquitoes all over you. And, so there's a lot of household materials that you can use as a repellent, and it's very simple. Any type of oil is great on your body because mosquitoes do not want to penetrate that oil to get to you, and the oil will actually break down the outside of their body and so it will stop them from attacking you. So, whenever you're working outside or going outside and there's mosquitoes around, use olive oil, vegetable oil, eucalyptus oil, any type of oil, rub it on your skin. It only lasts like one to two hours or so before you have to put more on, because you actually soak it into your body, but it's great for your skin and it will stop the mosquitoes from messing with you. There's all types of herbs that work really well too. There's spearmint, and thyme, and oregano, and pretty much any herb you can actually rub on your body that has a strong scent and it will stop the mosquitoes. Eucalyptus too, mosquitoes don't seem to like the eucalyptus oil. So, by taking a few leaves and rubbing it on your body or adding it to the oil or just putting it around the area where you're having a problem with mosquitoes, a lot of times that will deter them. And, even items as simple as cinnamon, might help too, because they don't like real strong, spices, so whether it's cinnamon, or cayenne pepper, or red hot chili pepper, by just sprinkling it around the area or actually rubbing it on your body, it will stop the mosquitoes from penetrating your skin, and it will help you to survive when there's mosquitoes around. So, you can be creative too, and I've found any strong spice, any oil, and combination of the above usually works. And, even vinegar, they don't like the smell of vinegar, and so if you have a problem with mosquitoes, you don't have to look for poisonous materials, you just have to look into your kitchen cabinet and you'll find all types of different mosquito repellents right inside your house.
