Hi, I'm Erica. We're in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I'm going to talk to you today about how to wash a wool rug at home. The first thing you're going to need to do is, you're going to need to vacuum both sides of the rug. And then after you vacuum both sides of the rug, you'll need to take it outside and lay it on paved ground. After that, you will take a garden hose, and just kind of water it down, get it all wet in all the spots, and then after that, you will need to, if there are any stains, then you can spray it down with a spray stain removal. After that you will need to get Woolite cleanser for specific wool carpets. Be sure to test a part of the section of the carpet to make sure that it will be still be color fast and it won't damage your carpets. You put two cap fulls into a bucket of Woolite, and fill the bucket up. Use either a whisk, and kind of whisk up the suds. You will need to use a sponge, and then sponge all over the rug and clean it off. After you do that, rinse it off again and get all the soap out of the rug. After you're done rinsing, make sure that you dry it thoroughly by rolling up the carpets with towels in between. That'll soak up any extra water that's in there. And then after that you'll need to lay the rug flat to day. Make sure you don't leave it in the sun, 'cause that can make your carpet fade.
