Hi this Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to prune gardenia bushes. Gardenias are such a beautiful plant in the garden and they have little white flowers that just smell delightful. But if you leave them alone and you never prune them, you will find that they'll get all these gangly type branches that kind of come up over the others and they never look very even. So after they're done blooming each year, usually in the fall and even into the winter, an easy trick to pruning them is just to cut them back one third and make more of a ball out of them so just by trimming them back one third and cutting all the gangly branches out, you'll find that they'll grow really full and you'll get lots more flowers the next summer. And you can always trim out a few of the skangly branches in between too just to get a little more sunlight into the middle of the plant and that way you'll get lots of blooms in the middle and the outside of the plant the next year.
