Hi! This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're talking about bamboo, and in this segment, what it's meant to mankind. Bamboo has been used by man for as long as 7000 years. There are records in China going back 7000 years on the uses to bamboo. Everything from materials to build houses, to clothes, to flutes, to bamboo mats, to art, and even the first paper ever produced was made out of bamboo. It has meant a lot to mankind. Most cultures, especially in Asia, have eaten the new growth as bamboo sprouts and shoots, and it's been a main stable of their diet for centuries. It's highly, highly edible and it contains a lot of the nutrients that we need. Bamboo is one of those materials that mankind treasures. Next, we'll talk about how to divide your bamboo.
