Also, there are several things that you need to distribute the stain. Now some stains, like the stain we are going to be using now, is a penetrating oil stain and what you can do with that is you can either rub it onto the surface with just a cloth or you can use a paint brush to spread it also. We are going to do that right now. Because I have actually chosen an oil based penetrating stain, I have chosen a brush that is especially made for that. So I've chosen my stain and it is a red mahogany stain and what I want to do before I actually start using it is you want to make sure you really get in there and stir the stain around. This will help with the evenness of the coating because there are always sediments that lie down at the bottom and you want to make sure you get everything mixed in properly together before you actually start.
