Hi, my name is Matthew Christian from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village today I'd like to talk to you about a portable electric sander. Another consideration in purchasing a sander or when you are going to use it you will need to determine which type of sandpaper to use. They come in mostly in 8.5 x 11 sheets, same size as a sheet of paper. They come in various grades of durability. Some will hold up longer than others. This particular one advertises that it lasts three times longer than a standard sandpaper. And then another difference between sandpapers is grit. When working with wood typically you will be working with anywhere from 80 grit on up to 220 grit sandpaper. The lower the number the courser the sandpaper. So an 80 grit would be coarse and a 220 would be fine. Typically you would use the two different, these two particular grits, one for your rough cut to get the wood sanded down to a particular level. And then you might finish it with the finer sandpaper to get a nice smooth finish. Sandpapers don't necessarily have to be used on wood. They can also be used on metal. You may have some old flaking paint on some metal that you need to sand off prior to re-painting and you could certainly use 80 and 220 to prepare that surface as well.
