Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about, "How to scare away Pigeons"? Now Pigeons drive you crazy; they just take over the carport in the neighborhood, in the public park and they're everywhere. So how do you scare them away? We don't want to hurt them, but we want to enjoy our areas without them. So the first thing that you can do to scare away Pigeons is to put a decoy out. They're afraid of owls and they're afraid of hawks and big birds. So just by putting that plastic decoy in the carport, in the area where they're hanging out a lot of times, they'll be scared away by that. And I have found just using the garden hose, if you've got a lot of Pigeons and you just consistently spray them down with the garden hose, then, they will leave the area. But, they aren't going to leave for very long; they eventually do come back; so just spray them away when you're, want to have a party or you're around, a lot of times, if they associate your house with the hose, they will not, they'll leave you alone. But outside of that, there's not a lot you can do. You've got to restrict the area where they're hanging out. So if they're under the carport, get some thin netting and block the carport area so they can't nest. If there's a ledge, put some hammer and nails into that, on that ledge, so there's no place to sit. You can actually put a string across; do just a couple of nails down and a string across so there's nowhere for them to sit. You can use all types of spices. They don't like strong spices; so cayenne pepper, cinnamon, black pepper, garlic, any type of really strong spice. You put it right on the ledge or right around the carport or put it on the patio, or wherever they're hanging out. They won't sit where that spice is 'cause it's going to hurt their toes and they don't like the smell. So you can scare away pigeons in many different ways without hurting them and very organically.
