I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns and I am going to talk to you now about a big problem we have faced in the lawns year round almost and that is ants. Ants are a problem. We have got the good old fashioned ants, the sugar ants, the fire ants which are taking over, it seems like ants are just multiplying in front of our face. But they are a problem. The stings don't feel good and it is something that we all need and want to get rid of. A good way to get rid of them without using chemicals, chemicals will damage the soil, they will build up over time and kill the life out of the soils which makes nothing grow. So we are always having to amend and do things to the soil to get it back to where it should be because of the use of chemical products. But a good way to take care of these infectious ants is to use a product called orange oil, horticultural molasses and water. Mix 6 ounces of orange oil, 2 ounces of molasses to a gallon of water. Mix it thoroughly and then drench, heavily drench each mound with this mix. That will take care of your ants.
