Hi! I'm Steve Chubin at Steve's Sewing and Vacuum Center at King of Prussia, PA and today we are here to discuss how to buy a vacuum cleaner. In buying a vacuum cleaner, another thing that you may want to consider is how much do you want to spend. When you talk about a vacuum cleaner in the $100 range and under, you are talking about a vacuum that we would consider somewhat a disposable product. That is a vacuum cleaner that may last you a year, maybe two but in that time, it may not clean all that way. So that is a vacuum that we would say would be for somebody that does not have a situation with pets and kids or somebody who just wants to spend less on a vacuum. It is not something that we would totally recommend for somebody who has a bigger home with expensive carpets and pets and kids and things of that sort. You would want to protect that investment spending a bit more on a vacuum. In an upright vacuum from a $300 to $500 range, is a vacuum that we would consider a very good quality vacuum and in most cases, should last you nearly 7 to 10 years of good service. So if you do the math and get a year out of a $100 vacuum and you get 7 to 10 years out of a $400 vacuum, you are much better off spending a little more out front getting vacuuming, better than protection for your carpet, better protection for your breathing environment and less landfills that you would be filling up with all those vacuum that you would be disposing of.
