Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to learn all about how to become a florist. Now a florist is someone that makes flower bouquets for a wedding, for a funeral, for parties or at a grocery store or even at home. So anyone can be a florist. You don't have to have a degree or lots of experience. Anyone can become a florist. But the easiest way to become a florist is to take classes. So go to your local flower design institute if you can find one in the larger city in near where you live. Take classes at community college or at public colleges or on line. There's so many different classes that you can take. So first, educate yourself on different types of names of flowers and how to arrange them, how to make boutonnieres, watch how to videos, anything that you can do to make yourself more educated about being a florist. But probably the easiest way to become a florist is to work for a florist. So just volunteer if they have no openings and just making ribbons or at holiday season or at valentines day, a lot of florists need temporary help. So if you can work for them even though it's not high paying you'll get all the experience that you will need from making corsages to boutonnieres to any type of wedding arrangements and any type of arrangements for the holidays. So there's so many different ways that you can learn how to become a florist. So once you feel you that you have experience then you can get a license. So have a name for your company, you can work out of the garage or you can hire or rent a space anywhere and start your own flower shop. You can go on line or you can just work at different markets or holiday events. Bit whatever you do, you will know that you're doing something that you really love. And flower design is a job that's been around for as long as gardens have been around. And it's a fun job to have. And it really is something that you will enjoy everyday of your life, whether you do it out of your home or if you work in downtown in a wonderful successful flower shop.
