Hi! Welcome back to Expert Village. My name is Charlie Folkman and today we are going to continue building our gazebo. Now the next step in our gazebo design is the lattice attachment. Now what we are going to want to do is since on our octagon our diagonals are actually longer than the horizontals and verticals, we are going to go ahead and make this our front so we are not going to want t6o attach any lattices here. Unless you are feeling really limber, you can go ahead and attach some and jump in and out but I would suggest not. So what we are going to want to do here is go ahead and attach a 4 ft. lattice here, 4 ft. lattice here in height and then the rest of the way we are going to want to go ahead for privacy purposes, do a 8 ft. in height. How we are going to attach these lattices are with our furring strips. Now our furring strips are 2 x 1 pieces of 8 ft. long wood. What we are going to want to do on the 4 ft. sections, is go ahead and attach it right here, and go ahead and screw it right into these beams. Okay and then we will take our lattice work and set it right on top of it and we will go ahead and screw it right into the top of that beam and pretty much the exact same idea for the 8 foot except it is going to be 8 feet. So we are going to go ahead and have our beam here, attach to our beams and we will go ahead and attach the lattice work.
