Hi! Welcome back to Expert Village. My name is Charlie Folkman an d today we are going to continue building our gazebo. Now that we have our 6 ft x 6 ft sheet of plywood put together, we are going to go ahead and make it an octagon. If you remember when we created a diagram for this, we had 2 feet on the center of each horizontal and diagonal side. What we are going to want to do is connect those points, draw our line and cut it off and that will give us our octagon. I will show you how to do that on the actual 6 ft x 6 ft piece. We are going to start over here on this edge. Take our measuring tape out and we are going to want to find the 2 center feet which is going to be at 2 feet and 4 feet. Going ahead and mark 2 feet and then mark 4 feet and then we are going to do that one more time on this side. Mark it up 4 ft, mark it up 2 ft. Now that we have these lines marked, what we are going to do is pull out our chalk box and go ahead and snap a line for that angle. Now what Richard is doing right here is incorrect. Since it is a diagonal line that we are trying to snap, you want to hold this on the edge of the board, center of the mark. You are going to want to go ahead and do the same thing on all 4 corners of your sheet and once you get that mark, just go ahead and cut it off.
