Getting Rid of Ground Hornets

Hi I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida. A lot of people have asked me well how can we get rid of ground based hornets or ground nesting hornets. Hey they can be a painful experience for people that are walking out in the yard and if you have ever seen these big old hornets they are about two inches in size. Back here I have a little photograph of one of our hornets and you can see he is a pretty big guy and if you ever got stung by one well you'll know it. Well how do you get rid of them? Well there are a couple of methods that you can go ahead. One of the best tools to use is a product called Deltamethrin. I have got a little bit of it right here that comes in the name of Delta Dust and Delta Dust is a type of insecticide that will not be attracted by water which is very important because if you apply something on the grass and the sprinkler system comes on or with morning dew dust will coagulate and they will not be able to be tracked in by the hornet. Well this particular product once applied water is actually repelled by it so it won't get wet so that's a very good thing that you need to have if you want to treat for ground based or ground nesting hornets. Another way is to go ahead and have the lawn sprayed by a professional pest control applicator which will also kill these hornets too but remember don't try to do it yourself especially if you have a, you know if you can have a reaction to hornets or if maybe one of your family members is allergic to the bee stings or wasp stings you can have problems so try to get a professional any time that you are dealing with any type of stinging pest or arthropod and hope you stay safe.
