I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. I'm going to talk a little bit about how to remove rust from gardening tools. The procedure is basically the same for a hoe, a shovel, or an edger tools, as well as it is, for grass cutter like these or clipper. Basically what you would do is get a good sturdy wire brush, mash down and just slide up and down on the rust area. Wipe it off. You get you some oil. Not motor oil but some other kind of good oil like a 3-in one or something of that nature. Put a little bit of oil on the surface area, take your rag again, rub it in there pretty good. Come back with the wire brush put as much pressure on it as you can. Then wipe it off. That's basically the steps for removing rust on any of your garden tools. Now they may have some stains on them and we're not going to get rid of those but you can get rid of the rust by doing those three simple steps.
