Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment I am going to talk about how to grow cotton. Now cotton is used for many different things especially material, clothing, bedsheets, pretty much anything you can imagine cotton is used for it and it's easy to grow as plant too and it's a beautiful plant and you can start it by seed or you can actually start it by the root and the best time to start it is in the Spring just like any other plant and it makes a little shrub and then after it blooms it makes the cotton type flowers that will dry with the seeds so the cotton itself is just like a little piece of cotton. It is just like cotton balls and it is easy to grow them as long as you use full hot sun, good drainage, good organic material and you don't let them freeze. They do not like cold cold climates and they like it on the dryer side so in the wetter climates like the Pacific Northwest they don't do as well as they do in the warmer South and they are very easy to grow. They like high humidity and they like lots of room to make their shrubs and to grow and if you live in a cold climate you have got to bring them inside for the Winter but if you live in a warm climate you can leave them outside and then in the Fall you just trim them back down to the ground or you can trim them half way down and then they'll just grow lush for the next year. So cotton is a gorgeous plant to grow in the garden as well.
