Hi! This is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're talking about bamboo. In this segment, we're going to talk about how to care for your bamboo. You've purchased your bamboo at the store or the garden center and you brought it home. You find a nice sunny spot to place it in. I've planted it. What do I do with it? Well, it's just like any other plant. It's a grass, so it's the same way that you take care of your lawn pretty much. You water it, but you let it dry out. Don't let it just sit in water. Then you water them, you let them dry out. If they get kind of crowded or there are spots that don't look good, you can kind of pull off the brown bits. Outside of that, there's really not a lot that you have to do to your bamboo. Some varieties will die if it gets too cold in the winter, so you might lose them. Other varieties, they're just lose their foliage. All you have to do is just cut the foliage back if it's brown, and most of the time, it'll start new shoots. Next, we'll talk about how to control your out of control bamboo.
