Hi I am Stan DeFreitas. Mr. Green Thumb. You know one of my favorite plants is the blueberry and you'll probably like it too. If you?re out buying blueberries in the store well you have got to take out a second mortgage. You can grow them of course easily in a container. Now I am growing them in a Earth box and see those beautiful berries right there? Well there luscious and they?re going to get bluer as they get to ripen even more. Remember that blueberries need an acid soil so were talking peat moss, peat moss and more peat moss. I actually added some sulfur to the planting box the Earth box as well. When you've got that kind of mix you could have good results. Blueberries like a PH of about four point five to five and most of the soils across the country are going to be a lot more alkaline in many areas then that. They also like to hold that moisture well also. So if you can make sure that you?re in a good growing medium. A good container that has good drainage and yet you could keep good water to it blueberries are a plant that you can grow and harvest and I have been doing this plant for years. Blueberries are a welcome addition to your landscape and I would give them a shot. For On Gardening I?m Stan DeFreitas. Mr. Green Thumb.
