Annuals are also a really great way to attract wild life into your gardens. Many of our annual plant materials are attractive to birds, bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. They can also be food sources for other animals. In order to use these kind of plants to attract wild life we recommend planting them in large swaths of a similar plant so you might just plant all of one variety and we find that that is particularly inviting to hummingbirds because they'll come and they'll visit the same flower over and over again. So for attracting butterflies to your garden you want to look for plants that have a great landing pad for your butterflies and anything that has a daisy shape or has a large cluster of flowers that they can land on. And they'll nectar from each one of those little individual flowers and then they'll move on to the next plant. Bees are also very important to our gardens. They are one of the most economically important insects in the world. They fertilize the flowers of all of our fruit crops such as peaches and apples so of course we want to see those in our garden because it is a sign of a healthy garden environment.
