Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this section we are going to learn all about how to grow Statice or Statice and it's a gorgeous plant from the Mediterranean . Now Statice is also known as Limonium or sea lavender cause it's found around the Mediterranean Sea all the way up into England. It's hardy down to about freezing, just a little bit below freezing. And so to zone seven to ten it does really well. So it prefers to be in a sunny location with a really good drainage. Now Statice is one of the most popular cut flowers in the world and it grows really well over the summer and then right before it turns to seed when the colors are just perfect. Cut it down and hang it upside down and you can enjoy the dried flowers through the winter. So in growing Statice or Statice start it in the spring by seed and make sure to put it in a full hot sunny spot with good drainage. It likes good composted soil and no fertilizer and it will do really well. And because it is an annual it will just die back in the fall you can just either save the seeds or just start seeds again in the spring. And in warmer climate you can take it by division and plant it or leave it in the ground and it will come back from year to year. It's a gorgeous plant.
