Hi I'm Jarrett from Stone Soup farm and this is how to grow broccoli. Broccoli is a fairly easy plant to grow. It's best in cold temperatures, it really doesn't like hot weather above eighty or ninety degrees. So it's generally grown in the spring before it gets too hot or it's planted around midsummer so that it's coming into maturity in the fall when it's cooler. Broccoli likes well drained soil, the kind you find in a raised beds. It's best if you can get a good till of the soil, nice and stirred up. As much compost or manure as you can get in there is always good. If you have ,the best way to plant is to form rows and dig little holes about one inch deep at about eighteen inch spaces in the rows. And within rows, if you have another one, the cross rows a foot to eighteen inches as well. The broccoli plant is quite large and it really needs a lot of space to unfold to get a good head at the top. Plant the seed in each hole, give it a quick little cover up so that it's within half an inch to an inch of the surface of the soil. And it's best to water that in also right after you've done that. To get a really good broccoli yield you should keep the plant well watered throughout the season. Maybe about once a week. And to make sure that the plant can grow nice and healthy and big. It's good to keep the weeds as eliminated as possible throughout the season. Once the plant has grown up the head will start to come up and you should pick it before the heads become too loose cause broccoli of course is the flower of the plant. And if you let it go too long those little buds will open up on the florets and become flowers and it's not tasty anymore. So I'm Jarrett from Stone Soup Farm and that's how we grow broccoli.
