Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about the effects of hydroponics. Now hydroponics is basically growing any type of plant in water without soil and so it has wonderful effects in that there's usually not a lot of chemicals used and there's no soil, it's not using any land space and so a lot of vegetables can be grown, or fruits, in a very small area. So it doesn't take a lot of space to produce a lot of fruits and vegetables. And so it's a really good system in a very crowded area. So when I think of hydroponics I think of space stations, I think that if we're living up in different parts of the universe that as long as we have our own hydroponic stations where we can grow different types of plants and water without soil, we can pretty much survive anywhere. And we can produce our own fruits and our own vegetables without even having the soil or the earth to live on. And so hydroponics are very important. We are just starting to understand all the effects of hydroponics and how easy and sustainable of a system it is. You can use artificial lights and water and grow plants pretty much anywhere.
