Hi. This is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to make flower arrangements. Now flower arrangements come in all shapes and sizes, and there's many different ways that you can organize or arrange your flowers. I have a rule of thumb. I always let the vase dictate how I'm going to arrange the flowers. Cause if you have a really small vase, you don't want to have big flowers in it. If you have a large vase you don't want small flowers in it. So when you're making a flower arrangement always decide on the arrangement based on the vase. And I always say less is more. For example, if it's just a small vase, just by having a Gloriosa lily, in the vase itself, that's generally enough. You can always add a Calla lily as well. You'll find that simple is always more. And if you have a larger vase, my rule of thumb is to always go in groups of three. So you want at least three of any one plant in there. For example, this will be three Gladiolas as my base. And then I'm going to have some Agapanthus . So you have odd numbers. So this is going to be five Agapanthus. And it will fill in very nicely. But you always want to make your arrangements quite simple. Because you don't want to overwhelm the arrangement, way to many flowers, because they won't show. And you can always add some in the middle and have some filler as well. And you will find even, you can always add things like, peacock feathers to your arrangements too, and it will add lots of color and interest. So you don't have to be too strict with your flower arrangements. It's always fun to add a little bit of artwork, or sculpture, or feathers in with them and they'll add a lot to it. So flower arrangements can come in tall or short, and I always make them last longer by pick, taking out the flowers as they pass. And if the other flowers still look good, you can always add new flowers to your arrangement. And that way you won't waste the flowers. And my trick, always cut the stems and add fresh water every few days and you'll find that your flowers will last so much longer. So you don't have to be a florist and you don't have to have your own nursery, to enjoy your own flowers in your home.
