I'm Cooie Grey-Lavin, and in this clip I'm going to show you how to add interest to your yard using old headboards. One way to add interest to your yard and give sort of a backdrop to plantings is to use old headboards. This is an old, it was painted, most of the painting has worn off, but it's an old metal headboard with little wooden beads in between. And I just stuck that in front of the lath because I didn't think the lath was as interesting as I would have liked, and the green in the headboard is picked up by the green in the pots. I found that one at a yard sale, and I have used them in a number of places in the yard. Usually you can get them for five or ten dollars and then I just sink them in the ground a little bit, sometimes put a stake behind them, pound it in and attach that to the headboard to keep it upright. It just adds one more little interest, especially in the winter when the plants are not as interesting, or haven't grown fully up. If they're dormant, then you notice the headboard more and it gives just a little spot of interest to look at. Headboards are easy to put in your garden, and your plants can grow up and around them as well.
