How to Kill Termites in Soil

Hi friends I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida and the question is, how do you get rid of termites in the soil? Well if you know where the termites are, you can easily get rid of them by using a good contact insecticide or a product such as Termidor which I'll show you in just a minute. However if you don't know where the termites are, you have to locate to find out where these live termites are in your soil. And I've got a device here that you can use to go ahead and find them. This is called a halo termite recruiting station and basically you insert the station directly into the ground and every month or so you can come back out and use a monitoring tool to actually find out, you just touch the top here and it'll tell you whether or not the station's been invaded by termites. If the termites are in the station here, you know that they're in the soil somewhere near your home. At that point you can go ahead and use a product such as Termidor which is a liquid termite treatment barrier that you can put around the home. Now Termidor you just mix it with water and you put a little trench around the home and you can fill the trench up with the mixture and then you put the clean soil back up over the top. That will kill all the termites in and around the home and help protect your home for years to come. But locating those termites in the soil, sometimes it's hard to do, sometimes it's better just to go with prevention because prevention can save your house a lot of problems and with Termidor you can do that.
