Hi! This is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment we're going to talk about how to build a planter box. Now, planter boxes come in many shapes and sizes, and you can make a planter box pretty much out of any material, and it could be a small planter box or even a large planter box but there's many easy ways that you can build a planter box. Now, I found that square foot gardening works really well for planter boxes, and you don't even need a bottom to the box. You can just put some material down or put it right on to gravel, or right on to cement or just put some weed barrier cloth underneath your box, and you, as long as you have four pieces of wood that make a box, you have a planter box, and the easiest way to connect the pieces of wood is to actually use a drill and drill hose first into the sides of the wood, and then turn around and put any type of screw into the hole, and it that way you can connect all four pieces. Now, this big planter box is just a square foot garden, and it's just using 4x2x6s, and it's just a really really easy way to make a planter box. You just get four pieces of wood from the lumber yard and you either nail them together or screw them together, and you can put 'em right on to the ground or you can put 'em right on to the grass as long as you cover it with some weed barrier, and then just add some good compost or potting soil into the box, and plant as many types of plants as you want in it, you can plant vegetables, fruits or flowers, or combine them all. That way you've created your own planter box and you can enjoy the fruits of your labor all summer long.
